A Poem from Gethsemene

Following is a short poem inspired by this video.

It's CJ Mahaney speaking about the Cup of Christ and his agony in the Garden of Gethsemene as he prepared himself for his crucifixion. Below is my poem borrowing lines from CJ's sermon. Please watch the video, as CJ does a wonderful job of showing us the surpassing greatness of our God toward us in his mercy toward us.

Father, if it is your will, will you take this cup from me?
In this moment, the Silence is deafening
The heavens themselves are quiet
The heavens are silent to their Lord
The heavens that would send armies of angels
The heavens who joyously proclaimed
The heavens he had abided in
these are silent - they would not remove my cup from him
Jesus, thank you - you are mine and I am yours

It's okay if you don't like poetry or think I am a poor poet, which I am. But reflect on this wonderful sacrifice. Reflect on the wonder, the wonder of the cross. What is your poem? What do you reflect on? Where are your thoughts today. Draw them close to the cross. Do not stray from this central truth. Jesus Christ came to save sinners. Love that Gospel.
